چکیده
OBJECTIVE We report an unusual case of recurrent ectopic pregnancy in the distal remnant after partial salpingectomy. CASE REPORT A 23-year-old woman underwent laparoscopic right partial salpingectomy because of right tubal pregnancy. She returned to our hospital 2 years later with a positive pregnancy test and lower abdominal pain. Transvaginal ultrasonography revealed no intrauterine gestational sac but a right adnexal mass measuring 2.4 x 2.3 cm. The serum beta-hCG (beta subunit of human chorionic gonadotropin) level was 2,918.06 mIU/mL. Videolaparoscopy was performed, and an ectopic pregnancy in the distal remnant of the right fallopian tube was identified. Right salpingectomy was effective and the pathologic report confirmed the diagnosis. The patient's postoperative recovery was uneventful. CONCLUSION If conservative methods are not suitable for a patient with tubal pregnancy, total salpingectomy is the preferred option over partial salpingectomy. A remnant poses a risk for recurrent ectopic pregnancy owing to potential transperitoneal migration of either embryos or sperms.

Recurrent viable ectopic pregnancy in the salpingectomy stump
Ipsilateral ectopic pregnancy after total salpingectomy is a rare occurrence and in theory should not happen. We report a case where a spontaneous ectopic pregnancy was found in the stump of the previously removed tube. This case highlights the need for further consideration of the diagnosis of an ectopic pregnancy in the setting of a previous ipsilateral salpingectomy.
متن کاملRecurrent Ectopic Pregnancy in the Tubal Remnant after Salpingectomy
We present two cases of ectopic pregnancy located within the remnant tube following ipsilateral salpingectomy. This particular pathology is rare and yet has significant consequences for the patient, with mortality rates 10-15 times higher than other ectopic pregnancies. It demonstrates that salpingectomy does not exclude ectopic pregnancy on the ipsilateral side. We suggest careful clinical con...

Background: Ipsilateral recurrence after salpingectomy is rare, but delay in diagnosis can result in rupture and potentially life-threatening hemorrhaging. Because of the paucity of data, there are various methods by which ipsilateral recurrent ectopic pregnancies have been managed. It may be possible to decrease the incidence of such pregnancies further with complete removal of the Fallopian t...

Ectopic pregnancy continues to be an important cause of maternal morbidity and mortality. We present a case of a 38-year-old woman who had an ectopic pregnancy occurring in the stump of a fallopian tube following ipsilateral salpingectomy for a ruptured ectopic pregnancy. This is a rare presentation for ectopic pregnancy and yet has significant consequences for the patient owing to diagnostic d...
متن کاملA Third Surgically Managed Ectopic Pregnancy after Two Salpingectomies Involving the Opposite Tube
Recurrent ectopic pregnancy in a remnant fallopian tube after ipsilateral salpingectomy is clinically rare. We report the extremely rare case of a third recurrent ectopic pregnancy after two previous salpingectomy procedures involving the opposite tube. A 26-year-old woman, gravida 3 para 0, experienced three ectopic pregnancies brought about by natural conception, all of which were treated sur...
